Mental Health Support
Mental Health Initiatives
Climate crises was declared the largest global health threat of the 21st century evidenced by increased stress, depression, trauma, anxiety due to loss of productivity, and other health crises particularly to people with pre-existing conditions, older people, and underprivileged communities. Focus on this issue is growing and more work is being done to mitigate the impacts of the crisis on mental health. Strategies include:
- Awareness creation on the interconnectedness of mental health, climate security and resilience using community radios, social media engagements, and talk shows.
- Promoting green spaces for mental restoration, behavioral activation and self-care for improved mental wellbeing.
- Provision of mental health and psychosocial support care to communities affected by climate crises through faith based groups, County and National governments amongst other stakeholders.
